Vincent Kompany says he won’t play due to a hamstring injury on Wednesday in his testimonial.
A bunch of Premier League legends and Manchester City have been made to turn out for Kompany’s testimonial in the Etihad Stadium, live evening from 7pm.
Mario Balotelli, Thierry Henry, Ryan Giggs, Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie are.
However, the himself says he, paradoxically, will not be able to play because of a hamstring issue.
“Unfortunately I will not be starting tonight or enjoying. It’s typical for me personally, right? I am usually just there for the end of the year,” Kompany said.
“I’ve got a slight hamstring injury. I could not risk it tonight.
“We have got plenty of awesome players to be seeing today and in a number of ways it is all about a celebration to say goodbye, it does not have to be about the pitch because such.
“In exactly the exact same way, we’re doing it for an unbelievable cause. This takes priority.
“I’ll be present for David Silva and Kun Aguero’s testimonials.”
Reflecting on his stay the 33-year-old has been asked to pick out the very best defender at the Premier League era.
Kompany ruled himself out but picked Liverpool centre-back and UEFA Player of the Season Virgil van Dijk out since the defender who has impressed him.
“Warriors who impressed when I played them at central defence, I’d bring it back to Virgil van Dijk,” he said.
“It’s a weird one because he has not been around the scene for so long as these titles we mentioned, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, those guys were there for a long, long moment.
“However, the signs he has showed in this last few decades simply make it obvious that when he would have been in the very top, top level before that he would’ve already been farther as well.
“From what I’ve seen in terms of having an impact on the team, and a guardian is not about himself, it’s about his communication with different guys and how you make your team stronger.
“The Liverpool prior to van Dijk and also the one after him it is a completely different set up and I will give him that one for that.”
